Pew Research Survey: About six-in-ten Americans support marijuana legalization

October 8, 2018

The good news continues as support for legalization nationally increased from last year.  The Pew Research Center conducted a survey September 18-24th of this year, which included respondents from all 50 states and the District of Columbia.  They conducted their survey so the respondents matched the 2016 Census Bureau’s American Community Survey estimates of the US’s gender, age, education race and regions.

62% of all Americans support legalization, up one point from last year but double what it was in 2000.  As usual, the younger the respondent the more likely they are to support legalization.   Support for legalization is increasing among the older demographic however.

Hopefully this will encourage our Congress to pass a common sense legalization bill.  Remember to email and call your Senators and Representatives, even if they support legalization, as they need the encouragement to continue to push for legalization.
